About Me

My name is Winnie Chan and I am a wife, mother and a new grandmother.  I came to the United States from Hong Kong to further my education and originally planned to return home a couple of years after I received my degree.  That was over 40 years ago.

When I arrived in NYC, I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and worked as a designer later in the NYC fashion industry.  I had my future career all planned out, but my goals took a dramatic turn when I married and children arrived. All of my dreams, goals and my career had to be put on hold for over 30 years.  Raising children was not an easy task, but because raising a family in New York can get expensive, over the years I worked in several jobs in all different industries to accommodate my family’s need.

All these years working as a mother, wife, in fashion, on Wall Street, in real estate and in the church, I have learned a lot of life experiences.  As an immigrant that has learned to navigate a full personal and professional life, I’ve been blessed to be given insight to so much in life.  And God has also brought so many people into my life that I’ve been able to share some of my life lessons.  With my children grown and building their own lives and my husband finishing up his career, I’ve finally been able to work on some of the dreams and goals that fell by the side.  First, I was finally able to launch our brand, MAYLÁN Skincare.  These are products my husband developed for me that I’ve used personally for decades now.  With encouragement from friends and acquaintances, we’re pushing forward to introduce our products to the world.  Next, since my friends and family have always come to me for advice or have heard the advice that I’ve given out, they wanted me to also share my life, thoughts and insight with the world.  So here is my blog where I hope I can pass on some of the wisdom I’ve gained…
